A cozy children's bedroom featuring a loft bed, wooden flooring, a toy storage box, and a large window with black curtains.

“Colorful disco football! But with structure,” is how interior designer Justine Guillermou describes the inspiration for the boy’s room she designed in an uber-colorful London home

After redoing the jungle-themed space for the little girl in the home, Justine moved on to the boy’s room; her aim was to make it feel way more like him. “His room was plain, lacking personality, and didn’t reflect his love for movement, color, and lights,” Justine explains. “It needed energy and identity — a space that encouraged play, confidence, and self-expression.”

It got all of that in spades. Similar to the rest of the home that Justine had reimagined, the room took on a color-block scheme that includes Dulux’s Satsuma Spice; YesColours’ Fresh Aqua, Fresh Yellow, Passionate Pink, and Electric Orange; and Benjamin Moore’s Sea of Green. The six bold colors blend dramatically with the equally eye-catching and ’80s-esque “Move To The Music” wallpaper by Lust Home.

The storage-filled lofted bed remains — now covered in green and white striped bedding. One of the bigger changes is the new “disco alcove” seating, with storage beneath it, LED lighting, and a hand-sewn custom cushion pad. “The son also contributed by applying his own disco stickers across the walls, making the space feel truly personal and interactive,” says Justine. “These small but meaningful DIY elements helped him feel ownership over his room while keeping the design fun and energetic.”

All in all, Justine created a room that honors the boy’s wishes and personality while seamlessly integrating it with the rest of the home and making it functional. To see more of this colorful space, visit the full House Tour on Apartment Therapy.
