I Just Discovered a Brilliant Way to Make Rice Krispies Treats, and It’s a Game-Changer (No More Sticky Pots to Clean!)
My younger children love to cook and bake with me. So when I came across an absolutely ingenious baking Reel by one of my favorite new follows, @theshortcutgirl, I knew I needed to get the kids into the kitchen for baking — pronto.
In her viral Reel that has at this point garnered over 360,000 views and more than 5,000 likes, @theshortcutgirl demonstrates a new way to make Rice Krispies treats. My jaw dropped as I watched.
In the video, she makes the whole dish in the glass baking dish. She greases it, adds squares of butter, and then adds the Rice Krispies and marshmallows. The whole thing gets popped in the oven for 12 minutes. After taking it out, she stirs everything together and pats it down. This method means no more sticky marshmallow pan!
I’m elated. I feel like this is something I can make with the kids even when I know I don’t have the bandwidth to clean up a bunch of measuring spoons, bowls, etc. I also love this Rice Krispies treat-making technique because it’s so easy that I know I’ll be reaching for those bags of leftover marshmallows from s’mores nights rather than letting them sit in the pantry turning into balls of stickiness!
Rice Krispies treats are going to be on rotation a lot more around here for an after-school treat and an after-school activity. I can feel it.
